An OPP officer is in custody and will face charges in court Friday.

Gregory Sutton, an eight year veteran of the Schrieber OPP, is charged with one count of intercepting private communications and two counts of public mischief following an investigation by the OPP’s Professional Standards Bureau.

The PSB was contacted by Thunder Bay Police Service last December after an incident in the city which led investigators to find Sutton had made false statements against a victim of the incident and illegally intercepted a private conversation.

Sutton was off duty at the time and is currently suspended with pay.
