THUNDER BAY — Provincial police have nabbed yet another stunt driver in the city, after a 22-year-old from the United Kingdom was stopped doing double the posted speed limit on Dawson Road.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle that was recorded going 103 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone at 11 p.m. on July 20.

The driver was issued a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The 22-year-old from the United Kingdom is facing three charges, including stunt driving, no valid permit for the vehicle and refusing to surrender their license.

Provincial police had stopped two others on stunt driving charges in the Thunder Bay area within the last week. As well, provincial police also stopped a stunt driver in the Nipigon area last week.

In 2022, 85 people died from collisions related to speeding, according to the OPP.
