KENORA, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police have recovered the body of a missing man from the Winnipeg River.
Police say a 27-year-old Kenora man was in the canoe with two women when it capsized on a stretch of river that has a current.
The women made it to shore and called for help, but a search involving police and civilian boats failed to locate the man.
The OPP underwater search and recovery unit attended the scene on Monday and located a deceased man in the water.
The man has been identified as Luc Baron of Kenora.
The investigation is continuing and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for August 22.
