THUNDER BAY -- Provincial police have publicly released the identity of the murder victim who was found dead on the shoulder of Highway 527 in January.
The body of 21-year-old Samatar Warsame, from the Greater Toronto Area, was found on the highway just north of the Highway 11/17 junction in Shuniah on Jan. 13.
The OPP, who are investigating the death as a homicide, had previously not released the identity in an effort to protect the integrity of the investigation.
A Thunder Bay Police Service official last month said a firearm was involved.
Police said further details will be provided only as they become available.
