DRYDEN, ON — Ontario Provincial Police say a woman from the Fort Frances area was incorrectly named last week as a person charged with a drug-related offence.
On Dec. 20, police posted a media release about an incident in Kenora on Nov. 30, which they now say contained wrong information.
The release referred to a traffic stop on Highway 17 in which police seized about 25 grams of methamphetamine.
It also described the arrest of a 29-year-old Dryden man and a 27-year-old woman on charges of possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking.
On December 24, OPP issued a followup release stating that the female involved in the incident had wrongfully identified herself to officers as being a person from the Couchiching First Nation territory.
They said they are continuing to try to locate the woman who was initially apprehended, in an effort to confirm her true identity.
