OPP search for man after canoe capsizes

Two women swam to safety after canoe overturned on Winnipeg River.

KENORA, Ont. --Ontario Provincial Police are searching the waters of the Winnipeg River following a canoeing accident that happened Sunday night.

Police say a 27-year-old Kenora man was in the canoe with two women when it capsized on a stretch of river that has a current.

The women made it to shore and called for help, but a search involving police and civilian boats failed to locate the man.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is en route to Kenora.
