OPP underwater search team find body of missing boater

Police in Red Lake have found the body of a boater reported missing Saturday, Sept. 10.

Officers with the Red Lake detachment of the OPP say they responded to the Bruce Channel of Red Lake between Cochenour and McKenzie Island regarding a missing boater around 5 p.m.

Police say David Delaney, 24, of McKenzi Island, had been swimming when last seen by witnesses.

The OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit attended the area on Sunday, Sept. 11 and locate the man about 75 metres from shore.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Monday in Kenora.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death continues.
