THUNDER BAY – The local detachment of the OPP is warning residents of Conmee and O’Connor Townships to be on alert for potential scam artists.
The warning follows reports from several residents who have received phone calls from someone identifying themselves as a Township employee who is seeking a water sample.
Police say it may be a scam in which after getting the water sample, the person attempts to sell the resident an expensive water filtration system.
Police say neither township is collecting water samples and that residents should be wary of any such approach.
