The struggling town of Ignace could see up to two dozen new jobs thanks to a deal signed by Abitibi-Bowater and Raleigh Falls Timber.

The contract will create positions for truck drivers and wood harvesters.

Work will begin in a couple of weeks, harvesting and hauling wood chips to the Abitibi-Bowater paper mill in Fort Frances.

Ignace Mayor Lee Kennard says this is the start of a turnaround for the community, and he credits Raleigh Falls Timber owner Louie Ricci for his commitment to Ignace.
