THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Holy Saviour Catholic School in Marathon, Ont.

According to a release issued on Thursday night, an outbreak is declared when two or more COVID-19 cases are detected in students and staff and can be linked within a school setting.

The school earlier this week suspended all in-class learning.

In this case, three individuals at the school have been found to have the virus, with one likely contracting it while in the school setting.

The health unit has not said whether it's students or staff, but said there is no indication at this time that anyone else has the virus.

The situation will continue to be monitored until the outbreak is declared over and the risk period has passed.
