Owners permanently closing Galaxy Lanes

Blame is laid on the lasting effects of the pandemic and the financial hardships that came with it and followed.

THUNDER BAY -- Ownership has pulled the pin on Galaxy Lanes Bowling Alley.

The ownership of the iconic Arthur Street landmark say the closure is effective immediately and have put the building, its fixtures and equipment up for sale.

"For decades, Galaxy Lanes has been more than just a place to bowl. It has been a place where friendships were formed, families laughed together and leagues built lasting traditions," reads a release sent to media on Thursday afternoon.

The owners blamed the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, including extended shutdowns, reduced capacity limits and the financial challenges that followed, for the decision to close the facility's doors.

"(They) have made it impossible for us to recover and continue operation in the way we always dreamed of."

The ownership closes Galaxy Lanes with a heavy heart.

"We are deeply grateful for the countless memories, the shared celebrations and the sense of community that each of you helped create. To our loyal customers, devoted league members and hardworking staff, thank you. Your support, dedication and love for Galaxy Lanes have meant more to us than words can express. As we close this chapter, we will always cherish the joy, connection and laughter that filled these lanes over the years.
