Oxy arrest leads police to North York, arrest ‘central figure’

Police say a North York man might be the "central figure" in the movement of Oxycodone pills into the Thunder Bay area.

Police say a North York man might be the "central figure" in the movement of Oxycodone pills into the Thunder Bay area.

On June 30, police officers with the combined forces organized crime unit arrested three people after seizing of about $96,000 worth of Oxycodone pills from a Thunder Bay hotel room.

As a result of that bust Thunder Bay officers flew to Toronto on July 13 and, with assistance from officers in that area, searched a North York residence. Police arrested a North York man following that search, and police say they found about $13,000 in Canadian cash in addition to what they believe is documentary evidence.

Police have flown the 37-year-old North York man back to Thunder Bay where he is now in custody and awaiting a bail hearing.

The drug seizure that led to the follow-up investigation in Toronto took place on June 30. At that time police had seized nearly $60,000 in cash in addition to 1,200, 80-milligram pills of Oxycodone.

Drug enforcement officers later arrested two men and one woman from the Landmark Inn.
