KENORA -- Ontario Provincial Police have a pair of people in custody following an apprehension pursuit.
Police say they observed a sport utility vehicle on Thursday morning at about 9 a.m. traveling at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle matched one suspected of being involved in a theft of fuel in Falcon Beach, Man.
Police, in a release issued on Friday, said they activated their lights in an attempt to make a stop, but the vehicle did not pull over and a brief pursuit ensured on Highway 17.
For public safety reasons police called off the chase and used a spike belt to stop the vehicle. After driving over the spike belt, the driver continued east, and the vehicle was spotted on a side road east of Kenora.
Again the driver fled.
Police set up another spike belt, which the driver tried to avoid by leaving the roadway, coming to a stop in the ditch at about 10 a.m.
