Paramedic assaulted by patient being transported to hospital

Paramedic was not injured; 29-year-old suspect charged with assault.

THUNDER BAY -- A 29-year-old man is in custody after allegedly assaulting a paramedic while being transported to the hospital.

The paramedic, who was not injured, was able to get out of the ambulance and get control of the suspect, Thunder Bay police said in a Tuesday morning news release.

Police responded to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and took a report from the paramedic.

The suspect has been charged with assault. He appeared in court and has been remanded into custody.
