A person was ejected from a van and now has serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say officers responded to the corner of South Vickers and Donald Streets around 12:20 a.m.

Police say a vehicle heading westbound at a high rate of speed on Donald Street did not stop for a red light and struck a northbound van that had four passengers.

One of those passengers was ejected from the van.

Occupants in both of the vehicles were taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after the crash. Police say everyone was released from the hospital, except for the passenger who was ejected.

That passenger is now being treated for serious injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash, and say that alcohol was a factor.
