DRYDEN, Ont. – Police have determined a call regarding an individual with a gun in Dryden involved a pellet gun, rather than a bona fide firearm.

Officers with the Dryden Police Service responded to a report of a male suspect with a firearm walking in the area of Pine Crescent around 11 a.m., before an investigation revealed the weapon was a pellet gun.

Police Chief Doug Palson said there is no suspected offence involved in the incident.

"These calls are not that terribly uncommon," he noted, but said area residents were right to call it in.

Some models of pellet guns can be difficult to distinguish from the real thing, he said.

A release from the force Friday afternoon noted an investigation was still ongoing.
