Person rescued after six-metre fall

Fire crews, paramedics involved in Wednesday night rescue at Soldier's Hole.

THUNDER BAY -- A woman was rescued after falling from a six-metre height at Soldier's Hole.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were called to the area off Copenhagen Road just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to assist paramedics, according to a news release issued Thursday morning.

Firefighters assessed the safest way to remove the patient from the area of the fall, using existing paths to remove the person from the scene.

The woman was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by paramedics. The extent of injuries is not immediately known.

Fire officials are warning the public about the dangers of climbing rocks and unlit trails at night.
