Police appeal for witnesses in fatal collision

THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay Police Service is asking any witnesses of a fatal collision that occurred near the intersection of Red River Road and Hill Street on Friday night to come forward.

One man involved in the two-vehicle collision was pronounced dead just after 8:35 p.m. Friday after being transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, police reported Saturday. The man's identity is being withheld out of respect for the family, the force said.

Police responded to the collision around 8 p.m. Friday, with paramedics and firefighters also dispatched to the scene.

The collision involved a sedan with a lone driver and a Jeep with passengers, police said.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the collision to call the Thunder Bay Police Service at (807) 684-1200 to provide information to the Traffic Unit, citing incident number P21063338.
