THUNDER BAY -- City police have arrested a 41-year-old man suspected of robbing a pair of Thunder Bay banks on Tuesday afternoon.

He's been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of breach of probation.

A male entered the CIBC branch in Victoriaville mall Tuesday afternoon and passed a note to a teller demanding money and left with a small quantity of cash, confirmed the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Police were called at 2:35 p.m. to the scene and searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

Authorities says they believe the same person also allegedly robbed TD Bank's Memorial Avenue location.

The CIBC outlet was closed Tuesday after the incident and a note on the door informed customers of the robbery and that their funds were safe.

The suspect has not been named, as he has yet to make his first court appearance.
