Police arrest 17-year-old suspect in Westfort stabbing

THUNDER BAY -- A 17-year-old is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old man. Police say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday morning in the laneway north of Mary Street.

THUNDER BAY -- A 17-year-old is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old man.

Police say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday morning in the laneway north of Mary Street. The victim and the accused are said to be known to each other.

The victim, who had been stabbed in the back, alerted a nearby resident who called 911.

The accused was located and arrested a short time later.

The victim was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
