THUNDER BAY -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged after multiple bizarre home invasions took place on Monday.

Police were dispatched to a Court Street address on Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call from an 84-year-old homeowner who reported an unknown male was sleeping in his home.

The homeowner had contacted the police around 6 a.m. the same morning after being woken up by noises and finding a male attempting to cut the screen of the bathroom window.

The suspect fled leaving behind a backpack. The bag was seized and the items located inside were identified by police to have been taken in a separate break-and-enter incident that had occurred at a Nugent Street home earlier that morning.

Police said when they arrived at the Court Street home the second time they discovered that the sleeping male was the same male suspect in the earlier break-and-enter incidents.

The suspect was arrested and a credit card, which belonged to another person, was found in his possession.

It was determined that the credit card belonged to a female victim of a break and enter early Saturday morning at her residence on Simpson Street.

The 24-year-old suspect appeared in court on Wednesday morning and has been remanded into custody.
