THUNDER BAY - Dreams of a white Christmas have been answered thanks to a late December snowfall.

What started out as freezing rain Thursday morning, eventually turned into two-to-four centimetres of snow and according to Environment Canada, there's still a chance for more snow.

Sgt. Gordon Snyder said there had been four minor collisions since the snowfall stopped around noon on Thursday, which isn't anything out of the ordinary.

"It's a higher number than the average day, but when you see conditions like these it's about what you expect," he said.

"Thunder Bay has been fortunate to not have too many of these days this winter."

While there is a low chance of snow in the pre-Christmas forecast, Snyder wants drivers to be cautious.

"I always say, it's the drivers that cause accidents not the conditions," he said.

"The vast majority of the public understand that, but if the road is slippery, slow down, and adjust to the conditions."
