Thunder Bay's Police Chief is moving ahead with a lawsuit against Mayor Hobbs.
Chief Bob Herman initially filed a libel notice in April following comments from the mayor to local media, alleging his private communications had been intercepted.
In a statement of claim filed last week, Herman is asking for $500,000 for libel and slander and another $200,000 in punitive damages.
Neither Mayor Keith Hobbs’ initial claims nor Herman's counter-claims have been proven in court.
When asked about the lawsuit on Thursday, Hobbs said he had not yet been served with papers in the case.
And he says if he is, he will not be commenting on the matter.
