THUNDER BAY – Police are continuing to look for leads in the death of a man whose body was discovered in Junot Park, in Thunder Bay’s north end, last week.

The Thunder Bay Police Service released the scene at the park over the weekend, after a post-mortem was conducted in Toronto on Saturday.

Police were dispatched to the park, which neighbours the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue station on Junot Avenue, just after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, after a call for assistance.

Officers discovered the body of a deceased male near the children's play structures in the park.

The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the unnamed man’s death, and are actively looking to speak with anyone who was in the area of Junot Park on June 7, or June 8.

The TBPS’s Forensic Identification Unit is also involved in the investigation.

A police spokesperson said investigators had not yet established a criminal element in the case but are continuing to investigate it as a suspicious death.
