Police continue search for missing Manitouwadge man

MANITOUWADGE, Ont. – Provincial police continue their search for a missing man in Manitouwadge. Officials with the OPP say off duty officers came across an injured Rottweiler on a snowmobile trail on Monday, March 9.

MANITOUWADGE, Ont. – Provincial police continue their search for a missing man in Manitouwadge.

Officials with the OPP say off duty officers came across an injured Rottweiler on a snowmobile trail on Monday, March 9. The officers were on personal snowmobiles at the time on camp 60 Road south of Manitouwadge.

The officers recognized the dog as belonging to resident Jeffrey Darrah.

On duty officers were contacted to check on the wellbeing of Mr. Darrah.

A family member as well as a friend were contacted. Information received stated that the missing man had not been seen since Friday March 6 between 9 and 9:30am.

Mr. Darrah was later reported being seen walking with his dog south of Manitouwadge near Friends Coffee Shop on 614 highway at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6.

Jeffrey Darrah is a 50-year-old man described as:

•         6 feet (183cm) tall
•         170lbs (77kg)
•         Grey/white short hair
•         Clean shaven
•         Green eyes
•         Wearing dark colored parka and blue jeans
•         Dog described as a large dark colored Rottweiler

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) as well as K-9 unit are assisting in the search.

Police are asking anyone with any information regarding Mr. DARRAH or his dog, such as possibly seeing or picking up a hitchhiker in the area are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122
