Police deal with pair of weapons assaults

A man is in custody facing two charges of assault with a weapon after a Wednesday afternoon knifing incident.| Police allege a 23-year-old man was cut several times in a the hallway of a south-ward apartment.

Police allege a 23-year-old man was cut several times in a the hallway of a south-ward apartment.

A 28-year-old was arrested in the incident.

The victim was treated and released from hospital.

Overnight Thunder Bay Police attended an assault on a 52-year-old cab driver.

According to a news release issued overnight, at about 2 a.m. the 30-year-old suspect refused to pay his fare after being delivered to a south-side hotel.

Police allege the suspect assaulted the cab driver, who was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He faces charges of assault with a weapon and will be in court on Thursday morning.
