THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Police Service have found 78-year-old Arthur ‘Sonny’ Twardowsky deceased after he was reported missing for nearly six days.
The service initially issued a media release on Thursday requesting public assistance in locating the man.
In the release, police said Twardowsky was last seen in the 200 block of Frederica Street West on Tuesday morning.
However, as the search continued, the service issued a follow-up release on Friday to inform the public that a police presence would be maintained in the Westfort area.
At that time, police asked Westfort residents to check in and around their properties, including outbuildings.
It was confirmed in a third media release issued on Sunday just after 3:30 p.m. that Twardowsky was no longer the subject of a missing person investigation.
Police said it is now considered a private matter between investigators and family.
No further information will be provided at this time, it added.
