A Thunder Bay area man is dead and another man has been charged, police in Northeastern Ontario confirmed Friday.
Few details are known at this time, but OPP Northeast Region Det. Staff Sgt. Jeff Dagg said officers responded to a call on Thursday in James Township, which is near Elk Lake. When they arrived on scene, officers discovered the body of a 32-year-old man from the Thunder Bay area.
Police confirmed on Friday that the body found was identified as Christopher Jean, 32, of Thunder Bay.
“There is one man who has been charged, he is in custody and will be attending court later (Friday),” Sgt. Dagg said.
The body of the Thunder Bay-area man is now in Sudbury where a post-mortem examination is being conducted.
Thunder Bay's Dwane Turk, 55, has been charged with second degree murder and will be appearing in Temiskaming Shores court on April 1. Turk is believed to be the father-in-law of the deceased.
“It’s a death investigation at this point,” Sgt. Dagg said. “We’re hoping that following the results of the post-mortem examination, the pathologist will be able to assist us in determining the direction (of our investigation).”
