Thunder Bay Police Service Media Release
The stolen police firearm has been recovered. A third party turned the weapon along with one magazine into a local attorney this afternoon. Police were then notified.
There are still 2 magazines which remain missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
The investigation surrounding the firearm being in the officer's personal vehicle will be conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police. The officer remains on administrative duties.
The Thunder Bay Police Service is grateful for the public and media support in getting this message out. The return of the firearm is a significant accomplishment in the interest of public safety.
