Police fish out stolen vehicle from lake, Winnipeg man charged

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Winnipeg man following the discovery of a submerged vehicle at a public boat launch. 

On Wednesday October 14, 2015 just before 10:00 am, OPP, Kenora Fire and ambulance were dispatched to a report of a vehicle underwater at the public boat launch in Keewatin, on Lake of the Woods. 

Police and fire determined no one was in the vehicle and it was pulled from the lake.

The police investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from Winnipeg.  As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old of Winnipeg man has been charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1 of the Criminal Code (CC) and Public Mischief section 140(1)(b) CC.  He is to appear in bail court in Kenora on October 15, 2015.
