THUNDER BAY - Police are holding the scene of a serious assault on the city’s south side that sent one man to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to witnesses in the area, police arrived at a residence on the 200 block of Cameron Street between 3 and 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. An ambulance was also on the scene.

Thunder Bay Police confirmed in a media release Monday evening that one man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Several Thunder Bay Police Service vehicles were parked outside the residence and police were seen speaking with neighbours in the area.

Witnesses said it appears two people were taken away by police. Several neighbours in the area also said police have been to the house many times in the past. A fight was witnessed in the area the night before and witnesses said earlier in the day yelling was heard in the area of the house.

Few details are available at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Information will be provided when it becomes available.
