THUNDER BAY – Police have released the names of the two people killed in a fatal highway crash this weekend.

Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP say Izidore Borgo, 83, and Marie Borgo, 81, both of Thunder Bay, were pronounced dead at the scene of a car crash on Highway 11/17 Sunday.

Police say the crash took place just before 4:30 p.m. on Highway 11/17 at the east entrance intersection of Lakeshore Drive in Shuniah.

The driver of a pickup truck, which was pulling a utility trailer, was heading east on the highway when the driver of a sedan made a left turn from Lakeshore Drive onto the highway.

Police say the sedan crossed the divided highway to enter the east entrance of Lakeshore drive and collided with the pickup truck.

The driver and two passengers of the pickup truck were transported to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
