Police investigate death

THUNDER BAY -- City police say they are investigating a sudden death after the body of a male was found on Saturday night near Lakehead University. 

In a release issued on Sunday, police say a passerby discovered the body just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night. 

Police have not released any further information about the investigation or said whether or not the death is suspicious in nature. 

The Balmoral Street entrance to the university is closed off at Beverly Street, though all other entrances to the campus remain open on Sunday.

The Balmoral Street at Beverly Street entrance to Lakehead University remains closed Sunday morning. Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded Saturday night just before 9:30 p.m., regarding a body of a male which had been located by a passerby at this location.

The male is deceased and this incident is under investigation by the TBPS Criminal Investigation Branch. No further information is available at this time.

The other entrances to Lakehead University remain open to traffic.
