Police investigate suspicious death on Court Street

Citizens found a body on Court Street Thursday. Police are now investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding that discovery.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay police are investigating a suspicious death on the city’s north side.

Members of the crime scene unit spent several hours on Thursday night investigating a body found in the area of 77 Court St. South, paying specific attention to a camper parked in a lot filled with old vehicles near the intersection with Wilson Street.

Police, in a release, said witnesses discovered a deceased person in the compound and police were dispatched at about 4:27 p.m.

The coroner has been advised and police will remain on scene on his behalf and pending the outcome of a post-mortem. Police, who have not said why the death has been deemed suspicious, have been speaking to residents and pedestrians in the neighbourhood seeking more information.

Anyone with information about activity in the area is asked to contact police at 684-1200.

Police say they will update the situation as more information becomes available.
