Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the first incident took place Friday evening at an Oliver Road business, when a store employee was pushed to the floor after confronting a man suspected of hiding merchandise in his shorts.

The suspected thief fled on foot, and the store clerk was unharmed.

The second theft took place Monday afternoon on South Waterloo Street.

A woman armed with a syringe confronted a store employee and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

City police responded to more than 700 calls for assistance throughout the weekend.
