THUNDER BAY – City police had a busy end to the spring break, handing out more than 100 traffic tickets this past weekend.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers issued a total of 123 tickets, 65 for speeding during enforcement blitzes.
It was the second straight weekend the officers were out in areas such as Onion Lake Road, Grenville Avneue, Cumberland Street, Oliver Road, Rosslyn Road and 20th Side Road.
“Even after we warned everyone we’d be there too,” Traffic Sgt. Glenn Porter said in a media release.
In addition to catching speeders, police also caught three red light infractions, three stop sign violations and three distracted driving cases where motorists were on their cell phone.
Police doled out 140 tickets during the previous weekend blitz.
