Police looking for driver involved in morning hit and run

City police are investigating a morning hit and run. Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a man was crossing at the corner of Memorial Avenue and Isabel Street at 7:40 a.m.

City police are investigating a morning hit and run.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a man was crossing at the corner of Memorial Avenue and Isabel Street at 7:40 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle turning left out of the McIntyre Centre.

The 50-year-old man was struck on his left side and went onto the hood and smashed through the windshield.

Police say the vehicle stopped and the driver got out and asked if the man was alright.

The pedestrian said he was OK, and the vehicle left heading northbound on Memorial Avenue.

The pedestrian continue to walk to his workplace.

Police were later called and the man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The pedestrian’s condition is unknown at this time.

Police say their traffic unit is now looking to identify the driver of the dark-coloured, mid-sized car.

The driver is described as a 30-year-old Caucasian man standing about five-feet and nine-inches tall, with dark hair.

The driver of this incident is required to report this collision to police.
