The following is a release from the Thunder Bay Police Service seeking an elderly female driver who collided with a city roads crew truck on Wednesday afternoon:

(Wednesday) afternoon, at 2:30 p.m., about the time that our officers were over working with the pot-hole truck on Edward St., there was another Works crew doing the same thing on Central Ave. They were heading eastbound near MacDonnell St, and so was the "elderly female" driver in the "newer" green hatchback car.

The driver of the barrier truck saw her in the mirror coming up behind him and just knew she was going to hit the truck as she moved across the center line to pass. He attempted to accelerate to get out of the way, but it was too late - her passenger side mirror was on the ground and there was a crease in her front fender bumper and door.

One of the crew told the investigating officer that it appears that she wasn't even aware that she had struck the truck. He told her to pull over, but she just drove away.

The investigating officer is asking any "elderly" female drivers who were on Central Ave near MacDonnell St at about 2:30 yesterday, with a license plate that includes APJJ., please go take a look at the right side of your car.

We need to talk.

Please contact Cst Bourdeau at 684-1226 in the Traffic unit anytime from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We're really glad nobody got hurt.
