Police looking for Jeep that crashed into pole twice

THUNDER BAY -- City police are looking for public assistance regarding a crash in which a yellow Jeep struck a pole twice before fleeing. Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the incident took place at 8 p.m.

THUNDER BAY -- City police are looking for public assistance regarding a crash in which a yellow Jeep struck a pole twice before fleeing.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the incident took place at 8 p.m. On Sunday at the corner of River and Algoma Streets.

A vehicle that resembled a yellow Jeep was heading westbound on River Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole.

A witness saw the vehicle back up and then forward, striking the pole again.

The vehicle, which is described as having over-sized tires, then reversed back onto the road and fled the scene. The vehicle was driving west on River Street at the time.

Police are reminding drivers that they must report any collision the results in injury or when combined damage exceeds $1,000.
