Police are trying to locate two missing tourists from Wisconsin after they crossed the Canadian border on Thursday.
Rainy River OPP say a grandfather and his grandson were traveling through on their way to a cabin at the Walleye’s Forever cabin rental service located in Sapawe, Ont. area near Highway 11, north of Highway 623.
Gary Fredrickson, 61 of Rice Lake, Wis., and his nine-year-old grandson Austin crossed the Canadian border on Thursday. Police say Austin last spoke with his family that day around 1 p.m. to confirm he made it into the country.
OPP then retrieved a cellular signal from the Sapawe Tower on June 8 at approximately 3 p.m. and are now looking in the area. OPP are working with US officials in order to find the missing pair.
Police are asking to watch out for Fredrickson’s 2008 white Ford F150, which is hauling a 14 foot boat.
