Friends and family of a missing 15-year-old teen are keeping their hopes up that something will happen soon now that the Kaministiquia River has opened up.
Jordan Wabasse has been missing since Feb. 7. His friends and family have continued to search for any information regarding the teen's whereabouts. They have also been searching along the shore of the Kam River, which is now free of ice.
Police had called off their own search in mid-February, when the river was still frozen. Police say that an underwater search could begin again shortly.
Thunder Bay Police Service spokesman Chris Adams says the local police force will likely be calling the OPP for assistance from a police dive team again soon.
Adams added there are a number of considerations to be made before a dive team comes in, including the safety of the divers and determining the best time to search a larger section of the Kam River.
