THUNDER BAY — City police continue their efforts in speed enforcement.

Wednesday morning, Constable Tom Armstrong was doing enforcement in a 50 km/hr zone and stopped three drivers in just over an hour.

In a video that was posted to Facebook, Armstrong indicated that the three drivers were all going more than 40 km/hr above the posted speed limit. This constitutes as stunt driving.

In the video, he noted that two of the drivers had long histories of driving convictions from previous incidents.

One driver had 35 previous convictions, while the other had 117 previous convictions, said Armstrong.

Stunt driving charges automatically come with a roadside license suspension of 30 days and a 14-day impoundment.

Minimum penalties for a first conviction include a $2,000 fine and a one-year license suspension.
