With schools letting out for March Break Friday, you can bet students will be out on the streets in full force over the next week or so.

As a result, Thunder Bay Police are offering up tips on how to keep kids safe during their time off. Spokesman Chris Adams said March Break often sees children left home alone while parents are at work so it's important to ensure all doors to the home are locked.

Adams adds when kids do head out of the house it's important to stay off frozen rivers or ponds as the rising temperatures have rendered the ice quite thin.

Motorists also need to keep their eyes peeled as more students will be out walking or playing on the streets.
