Police officer has assault causing bodily harm charge withdrawn

The charge was related to a serious injury suffered by 33-year-old man, who had been arrested outside a May Street business for public intoxication.

THUNDER BAY — A charge of assault causing bodily harm against a city police officer has been withdrawn.

Const. Taylor Auger, of the Thunder Bay Police Service, was charged in 2024 in connection with an incident on April 11, 2023 following an investigation by Ontario Special Investigations Unit.

The charge was related to a serious injury suffered by 33-year-old man, who had been arrested outside a May Street business for public intoxication.

It was alleged an interaction occurred between him and Auger at the police station. The man was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a serious injury.

The charge against Auger was withdrawn on Tuesday.
