Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service has seized over $10,000 in Percocet pills in Keewaywin First Nation. Police were alerted to drug distribution in the community on July 26.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service has seized over $10,000 in Percocet pills in Keewaywin First Nation.

Police were alerted to drug distribution in the community on July 26. An investigation led to Percocet with a street value of $10,080 and $4,000 worth of crack cocaine.

Thirty-one-year-old Carrie Ann Mekis of Keewaywin First Nation has been charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  

Meekis was released from custody on conditions and will next appear in court in Keewayin on November 3, 2015.

Keewaywin First Nation is approximately 225 km northeast of Red Lake.
