Police release new information in search for missing Kacey Yellowhead

Thunder Bay police have released information on an additional sighting of missing person Kacey Yellowhead on the day he was last seen, Aug. 2.

THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Police Service has confirmed an additional sighting of missing person Kacey Yellowhead dating to Aug. 2, the day he was last seen.

The force confirmed in a release Friday that Yellowhead was seen outside the Casa Mia apartment building at 111 Southern Avenue at 7:23 p.m. on that date.

“At that time, he was in the north parking lot, and heads westbound toward the dead-end of Minnesota Street at 9:08 p.m.,” the statement reads.

Police are continuing to ask anyone living in the area to check their properties, yards, sheds, abandoned or parked vehicles, and alleyways for signs of Yellowhead.

Anyone with security surveillance systems in the area is urged to review footage from that time and call police at (807) 684-1200 about any possible sightings.

Yellowhead, 25, is described as an Indigenous male standing about 5’6” with a thin build. He has a medium complexion, shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes, and a red mark on his right cheek.

He was last seen wearing a black zip-up hoodie with white draw strings, charcoal grey shorts, and white socks.

Police have previously sought to identify a woman Yellowhead was seen with on Aug. 2, and conducted a grid search in the area, including an aerial search with a drone, this week.

Originally from Eabametoong First Nation, Yellowhead had been living in the city of Thunder Bay for about a year.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to call police at (807) 684-1200 or submit an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers.
