THUNDER BAY – City police say they have rescued a 22-year-old woman from the Neebing-McIntyre Floodway.

In a release issued on Wednesday morning, police say they arrived at the Silver City Cinemas parking lot just after 8 p.m. on Monday night and located the victim treading in the river. She appeared in need of assistance.

Police say they managed to get a rope out to the woman and she was taken by ambulance to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, later released after being medically cleared.

How the woman got into the water is still under determination. Investigators would like any potential witnesses who might have seen activity in the area of the floodway between the CN bridge and the rescue location around 8 p.m. on Monday night to phone police at 684-1200.
