Police respond to assault, weapons call at south end residence

Police respond to weapons call at Brodie Street residence, after earlier assault at same address.

A heavy police presence near the intersection of May and Arthur streets Thursday afternoon relates to a search for a suspect in a weapons call, said the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Police responded to a report of a male with a weapon at a residence in the 300 Block of Brodie Street around 3:30 p.m., the force said. The weapon was not believed to be a firearm.

Police said it was the second time they’d responded to an incident at the same address Thursday, after responding to a serious assault in the morning.

An adult male was sent to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to have been sustained in an assault in that earlier incident.

That resulted in charges of aggravated assault, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of cocaine, and breach of probation for a 43-year-old man, police said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
