Police searching for suspect in Court Street area (5 photos)

Police block off sections of Court Street and Johnson Avenue.

THUNDER BAY - City police, with rifles out and the K-9 unit mobilized, are searching a section of the downtown north core after a mid-afternoon incident.

Police on Monday afternoon have blocked off sections of Johnson Avenue and Court Street, between Bay Street and Cornwall Avenue, and taped off a section of a lot adjacent to Renco Family Foods.

A minivan, with a dent above the rear driver-side fender, appears to be of interest to officers.

Police are categorizing the incident as a motor vehicle collision, saying the driver then took off on foot.

This is a developing story. More information will be added when it becomes available.
