THUNDER BAY – City police are appealing to the public for help in tracking down the suspect in a south-side shooting incident last week.

“Despite the best efforts of the investigators, they are being met with reluctance from individuals involved in this incident,” police spokeswoman Julie Tilbury said on Thursday in a release. “Police are appealing to anyone with information about his incident to come forward and speak to Det. Whipple at 807-631-5898.

“Public safety is a concern, especially when a firearm is used in a violent incident.”

In the initial May 9 release, police said officers were called to the corner of Victoria Avenue and Brodie Street at approximately 9:45 p.m. the night prior after receiving a report of an assault outside a popular local bar.

A 28-year-old male was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and later released for treatment of injuries consistent with shotgun pellets.
